Wave Ring: The ‘Currents’ Statement Ring

‘Currents’ is a wave ring that reflects the beauty and complexity of water.  This statement ring is comprised of three layers that portray the movement of the ocean.  Although, the middle layer is partially obscured by the surrounding waves, but it sparkles and shines its way through adding intricacy and depth.  Channels of water separate then reconnect as the band of this wave ring flows around your finger.  Wear this ring and bring a beautiful piece of the ocean with you wherever you go.

The concept for this wave ring as a piece of nature jewelry first appeared when I was stuck in port on a ferry from Palermo, Italy to Tunis, Tunisia.  Halfway to Africa, one of the boat’s engines died, then another and the captain reversed course and returned to our point of origin.  According to our passports we had left Italy, and yet there we all were, trapped for three days while the inept company first tried to fix our vessel and then later, to arrange another ship.

As passengers around me railed against the situation, I found an empty chair on deck and began turning my memories of all the time I’d spent in, on or looking at water into sketches.  Whether I was living in the North America, Asia or Europe the sea or ocean has always played a big part in my understanding of a location.  I carry all those experiences with me and now they’ve materialized in the ‘Waterways’ jewelry collection.

Important information about our wave ring:

Our jewelry is 3D printed in stainless steel infused with bronze; some people’s skin can have a reaction due to the bronze content and turn green. Polished gold and polished nickel steel go through an electroplating process that deposits a 0.1 micron layer on the outside of the product. This gives them a unique finish and is great for aesthetic purposes, but will wear off over time as they are exposed to friction. Additionally, the jewelry is coated in a clear sealant to help prevent oxidization, but over time it’s natural for a patina to develop, which furthers the uniqueness of each piece. More than ten percent of people have nickel allergies. If you are allergic or unsure please choose another finish.
